we generate our power using a whopping 6 kilowatt solar power system, with 29 solar panels on our roof, making us the largest renewable energy operator on Waiheke Island, and quite possibly the first solar powered cafe in NZ, or even in Australasia.
All of the fixtures in our beautiful cafe are recycled from junk stores and charity shops.
So all of these elements stem from our desire to create a cafe based on ethical business practices. We regard Waiheke as having a community which is very conscious of these ways of thinking, and we have a strong desire to represent these ideals as being Waihekean ideals, and a very important part of Waiheke Island’s cultural identity moving forward. As Waiheke Island continues to develop and progress economically, we are determined to demonstrate that economic progress does not have to happen at the expense of these important basic principles which are fundamental to maintaining a healthy functioning community.
